I've been using various clipless pedals for years like spd and crank brothers. I have a Salsa Vaya steel bike, and have been wanting to do more casual riding around downtown areas and the like. Clipless pedals are great and I still use them, but sometimes you just want to be able to jump on your bike and go! These pedals bridge the gap wonderfully between the old bear claw (shin rippers) and clipless pedals. They are pricey, but you do get a very high quality, very engineered and very made in Germany pedal. At first they looked huge compared to the tiny clipless pedals, but once your feet are on them who cares. Everything is expensive these days, so if your going to spend money on platform pedals anyways, save up a bit longer and spring for these. You won't be disappointed.
